Happy Birthday to Us!

Plastic Safety Systems was incorporated on this day, September 7, in 1982. We are 28 years old today.

The picture is from our 25th Anniversary celebration, held at ATSSA Expo, in New Orleans, in 2008.

We served a New Orleans lunch buffet of red beans and rice, shrimp gumbo, local assorted pastries, and a whole lot of [...]

“Confusing lane switches at I-270 and Highway 40″

From KMOV-TV, St. Louis, Sept 3, 2010:

“It’s the season for highway construction zones but News 4 has been hearing concerns about the workzone at 64/40 & I-270. While MoDOT workers replace expansion joints under the bridge, motorists are required to navigate a lane shift as they drive over 270.

Some drivers are failing to stay in their [...]

“New interstate highway eyed to link cities in West”

From the article:
“It may not be a reality for many years, if ever. But the idea of building a new interstate highway to span some of the West’s wide open spaces appears to be gaining some traction, at least in the region.”

“TxDOT brings ADA upgrades to Taylor”

We applaud TX DOT for launching construction projects to make sidewalks ADA-compliant.
We have added this article to our blog to stress an important point.
The goal of the construction, of course, is an ADA-compliant sidewalk.
However, the contractors have installed non-ADA-compliant barricades to close the sidewalk itself.
Nor do we see, admittedly from the limited perspective of the photograph, an alternate, or temporary pedestrian access route, (TPAR) [...]

“State agencies promote safe, sensible holiday weekend”

Great advice from Ohio DOT:
“ODOT, meanwhile, is reminding drivers that road construction season still is in full swing, meaning motorists need to continue leaving a clear distance between vehicles, reducing speed and staying alert — especially in work zones.”

“N.Va. service patrols help get traffic moving”

This is a great idea, and becoming ever more popular, it seems.
From the article:
“With five huge highway construction projects underway in Northern Virginia, drivers are facing plenty of red brake lights amid orange barrels. With the hope of keeping motorists moving, the Virginia Department of Transportation has added seven safety service “patrollers” to…assist stranded motorists and [...]
